After years of use, vinyl records can begin to sound crackly and sometimes even cause the needle to jump into the adjacent groove, often known as skipping. This is caused by a build up of dust, dirt and grime that builds up in the grooves of the vinyl. Cleaning it with a lightly damp microfiber cloth can remove the surface muck, but its almost impossible to get into each and every groove. That is until you introduce ultrasonic waves.
"Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves to create bubbles that agitate a liquid and clean surfaces. Ultrasonic cleaners generate high-frequency sound waves, which are transmitted through a liquid. The sound waves create compression and expansion cycles in the liquid (known as cavitation), which forms tiny bubbles or "voids" during the expansion cycle. The bubbles collapse during the compression cycle, creating a powerful scrubbing effect. The implosion of the bubbles pulls contaminants away from the surface being cleaned."
We offer a cleaning service for your vinyl collection, with prices from £5 for a single vinyl to £2 each when bulk cleaning 50 or more. Each vinyl is cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, then inserted into a new inner sleeve, then back into the original sleeve. Please note that any scratches present cannot be removed (as seen in the before and after pics).
